Since the beginning of their existence, the Giovanni have put the fear of god
into all existing kindred. From their inception and method of repayment for
their gift, both the Camarilla and Sabbat have kept a watchful eye on the
Giovanni. They had better.
The clan has many mysterious rumors floating about, some are very close to
the truth while others are just plain ridiculous. None the less, this works
well for the clan of necromancers. Being neutral, or pretending to be has
allowed the Giovanni to make a killing in playing both sides of the fence.
In a pact made with the Camarilla, the Giovanni swore not to involve themselves
in the operations of the Camarilla controlled cities. This proved to be a
mistake by the Camarilla, for it allows the Giovanni to do business with the
Sabbat. Sometimes the fence is the best seat in the house.
But I get away from the real subject at hand.......Lucien Giovanni.

Background:
Born into the Giovanni family as a mortal in the year 1839, at the age
of thirty. Lucien was the oldest of 3 children, 2 boys and 1 girl. Upon
reaching the age of 14, Lucien was chosen for being one of the 3 of his
generation to be embraced. The decision being made, he was given a mentor,
his uncle Damien, to make sure he followed the chosen path. Finishing
school, and learning a professional trade was what was in store for Lucien.
So he completed college and graduated with a degree in finance. He then
was appointed the position of assistant accountant to his uncle Damien. After
2 years in training, Augustus Giovanni deemed Lucien was ready to endow on a
project of his own - his own small company. This company turned out to be
a shipping endeavor, that Lucien made very successful. All this was accomplished
by the time Lucien had turned 21. Seeing that he was making great progress,
his mentor then turned Lucien onto the occult and the matters of death.
Again being the prodigy he was, Lucien swallowed all knowledge that was thrown
his way. He then used his shipping company to smuggle occult related material
into Venice. This was done to further advance his and his clans' knowledge of
death.
When Luciens' 30th birthday rolled around, his mentor was chosen to be his
sire, and the ceremony was made known to all Giovanni. Along with the other two
that were chosen, the ceremony took place. Luciens' closest blood relatives
( as far as family tree ) were chosen as the ones who would drain him, then
Damien would give him the dark kiss, thus sealing the bond - blood within blood.
Over the course of the next 10 years, Lucien uncovered the power of the blood
and sought to increase his power. Born unto the kindred way of unlife as a 10th
generation vampire, he looked for ways to make himself more powerful. And succeed
he did. He made connections with the Nosferatu of Venice and found where a 9th
generation Toreador resided. Knowing the location of this haven, he went about
setting up a trap to increase his blood potency. Easily overtaking this unsuspecting
kindred, he staked then proceeded to drain the toreador of both his blood and life
essence. Now Lucien was 9th generation, and looking to be 8th. That would have
to wait.
The Giovanni clan as a whole is not a clan with alot of members, as one can see
they only embrace within their own mortal family. Taking three mortals every generation,
the clans number in size is not as large as any other in existence today. But they
are extremely powerful and influential. Which has caught the eye of the Sabbat.
The Sabbat wanting control in Europe, any control what so ever - for the Camarilla rule
with an ironfist there - decided the Giovanni clan would be easy prey. Again they were
mistaken. Though the Sabbat tried to kill and take influence from them in the mortal
world, the Giovanni's hung tight and fought them off. In an effort to appease them,
they gave the Sabbat some of what they wanted - but nothing too important. Well during
these days of the "cold war" between the Sabbat and the Giovanni's, Augustus decided
that the Sabbat too, had to take some losses. Putting together a plan to hinder the Sabbat
both physically and financially, a team was chosen to carry out these orders. Over the course
of 15 years, this plan was carried out. Lucien was made part of this team, to be utilized in
both senses - physically and financially. It was here that Lucien attained 8th Generation.
In this time he made contacts within the Sabbat, and found who was who. He came to know of
an 8th generation Malkavian and his haven. Again setting the trap, and the bait being taken
- Lucien now found himself 8th generation and looking to 7th.
Doing a worthy job, when ever asked to perform a task. Lucien was asked to come to the
new world and make contacts for the clan. When the Sabbat were run out of New York, the
city was closely watched by the Giovanni to see if it stabilized. Five months later, it
was agreed that Lucien would be sent over to do whatever it took to get a foothold in the
economy of the new world and to set up an establishment for money to be laundered........
:::The plane starts to descend. The pilots voice breaks the silence and the tension as
he says," Welcome to New York, we will be landing in Kennedy airport momentarily". A grin
forms on Lucien hardened face, as he whispers," Let the games begin, let the games begin",
breaking off into laughter.::
